A Tribute to Unsung Heroes of Lower Judiciary of Punjab. The other day I came across the court of a Judge /Magistrate Sec.30, District Courts Lahore , paused for a while and checked the cause list of the court. The officially issued cause list for just one day revealed an astounding reality — 252 cases were fixed before him, all to be heard and decided within the limited 8-hour working day. This means he must attend to over 31 cases every single hour, providing less than two minutes per case, while still upholding the constitutional duty to ensure fairness, due process, and justice. This is not just a workload. This is an extraordinary test of endurance, intellect, and judicial integrity.—
An Ocean of Cases, A Single Judge.

The 252 cases listed before Mr. Rana Shaher Yar in one day were not routine entries. They covered a vast legal spectrum including: Serious criminal trials under the Pakistan Penal Code, Arms Ordinance prosecutions, Bail applications where personal liberty is at stake, Challan proceedings involving fresh police ,Miscellaneous proceedings requiring immediate judicial attention. Each case demands time, concentration, and legal reasoning. Yet, each must be attended to with equal seriousness and respect for the law.—
Duty Beyond Duty – Serving in Place of Absent Colleagues what further magnifies his dedication is that a judge is not only handling his own judicial roster but is also regularly performing the duties of other magistrates who are on leave or assigned elsewhere. This means his courtroom is effectively serving as multiple courts in one — a burden only a judge of exceptional work ethic can carry.—
Justice Under Pressure — Yet Never Compromise with 8 working hours in a court day, managing 252 cases translates to:More than 31 cases per hourLess than 2 minutes per Case despite these constraints, the Judge continues to dispense justice efficiently and lawfully, ensuring that every litigant is heard, every lawyer is given an opportunity, and every order aligns with the standards of judicial propriety. This level of performance is not merely professional—it is heroic.—
A Living Example of Judicial Commitment in an era when judicial delays are often criticized, it is vital for the public to recognize the silent struggles of judges like Mr. Rana Shaher Yar, who shoulder the burden of hundreds of cases daily while never allowing personal fatigue to interfere with legal obligation. He is not just running a courtroom—he is upholding the rule of law under the most demanding circumstances.—
Conclusion. This cause list is not just a record of dates and cases—it is a manifestation of judicial courage.Mr. Rana Shaher Yar, Magistrate Section 30 Lahore, like many other judges , represents the unsung heroes of our justice system who work tirelessly, far beyond ordinary limits, to ensure that justice remains accessible and alive for all citizens. This is not merely dedication. This is judicial excellence at its finest.—
